General Information:

James Madison University Facilities Management department is currently accepting applications for BAS PM Technician.

Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Performs commissioning, retro-commissioning, and preventative maintenance on HVAC control systems to ensure air handlers, dampers, valves, sensors, and related equipment's are functioning as designed.
  • Evaluate the Operation of HVAC Equipment


    • Performs functional testing of air handlers, hydronic systems, and other HVAC systems.
    • Adjusts dampers and valves, and calibrates sensors as needed to ensure proper system operation.
    • Ensures wiring is clearly labeled and control panels are clean and neat


  • Assist in the commissioning of new buildings


    • Performs point-to-point check out of HVAC control system on new construction and major renovation projects.
    • Notes any deficiencies and works with BAS supervisor and BAS contractors to ensure problems are addressed.


  • Develop testing procedures for HVAC systems - including maintaining records of deficiencies and remedies
  • Works with other BAS Techs as needed for calls
  • Work with Energy and Utilities technicians to provide assistance installing and maintaining utility meters as needed
  • May be required to perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:



  • Knowledge of various types of electronic and pneumatic control systems.
  • Knowledge of building and automation systems fundamentals
  • Knowledge of controls installation, setup, and wiring
  • Working HVAC knowledge
  • General knowledge of building codes
  • Knowledge of control hardware and software relationships
  • Ability to operate a variety of complex diagnostic equipment
  • Ability to logically diagnose and troubleshoot controls problems
  • Basic computer literacy with the ability to navigate the Windows environment
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to work well with others and relate positively to customers
  • Must have a Valid Virginia Drivers License
