Sr. Machinist I

Occupational Summary:

The primary responsibilities of a Machinist I is to fabricate and recondition the required components and tooling in support of manufacturing operations in the most efficient manner possible while adhering to NHBB quality principles.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Run manual machines including manual grinders to fabricate and recondition basic components and tooling in support of manufacturing

Heat treat basic fabricated components following prescribed specification

Run manual mills and manual lathes as well as surface grinders to be able to furnish a completed part

Form and recess grinding: grind tools using grinding equipment while maintaining close tolerances and specifications

Detect and report unusual conditions and special problem immediately to Supervisor. Move materials, containers, and equipment in performance of duties or as directed. Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations. Keep work area in clean and orderly condition.

Recognize and report any irregularities as to defective parts, equipment, work techniques and/or quality of workmanship.

Diagnose and correct operating difficulties with assistance as needed. Perform daily minor maintenance duties relative to equipment used.

Be attentive to detail.

Perform other duties as required or directed.

Requirements:

Education:
High School diploma or equivalent

Experience:

Demonstrated proficiency with manual mills and lathes

Demonstrated proficiency with surface grinders

Demonstrated proficiency in manual grinders

Demonstrated proficiency with inspection equipment

Abilities:

Demonstrated proficiency with the Walter grinder, OR press equipment for snap wire, OR surface grinders for rollers, blades and drivers

Mechanical aptitude

Hands-on

Attention to detail

Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction) and maintain an understanding of the decimal and metric systems

Able to be flexible and respond to the changing needs of the organization

Willingness to learn and advance

Other Requirements:
Note: Physical job requirements may include standing, use of hands to assemble and or carry out job functions as well as sitting, lifting, carrying, bending and stooping during the course of the job.
Ability to lift 40 lbs.
