Together, with our partners and supporters, we are creating a healthy and hunger free Eastern Massachusetts.

The Greater Boston Food Bank operates from our 117,000-square-foot Yawkey Distribution Center in South Boston. This is where 109 million pounds of healthy food passes through before being distributed across Eastern Massachusetts through more than 600 partner agencies and direct distribution sites such as:

  • Food pantries
  • Soup Kitchens and Meal Programs
  • Senior Centers, and more

Our partner agencies place food orders through our online inventory system and pick up their orders at our warehouse. Some partner agencies are located too far from our warehouse for regular pick-ups or have transportation challenges. GBFB operates several cross-dock locations across Eastern Massachusetts to accommodate these challenges by bringing food to convenient, central locations to ensure these agencies get the critical food that their community members in need rely on.

Mission & Values

Through the compassion and commitment of our supporters, staff, partners, and volunteers, The Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB) takes a bold, innovative and multi-pronged approach to achieve our mission.

Our Mission: End Hunger Here
GBFB is the largest hunger-relief organization in New England and among the largest food banks in the country. Last year, we distributed 117 million pounds of nutritious food to people who struggle to have enough to eat. We are committed to increasing our food distribution to provide three meals a day to every person in need in Eastern Massachusetts while supporting healthy lives and healthy communities. The Greater Boston Food Bank is a member of Feeding America, the nation’s largest hunger-relief organization. Through compassion and action, together we can End Hunger Here.
