The International Council on Clean Transportation | Diversity Employer

Our mission is to improve the environmental performance and energy efficiency of road, marine, and air transportation, in order to benefit public health and mitigate climate change.

Global demand for transportation is surging, and with it, inexorably, carbon emissions—not to mention other forms of air pollution. Transforming the technologies and systems that move people and goods around the world is an urgent imperative. The International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) is an independent nonprofit organization founded in 2001 to provide first-rate, unbiased research and technical and scientific analysis to environmental regulators.

In the last five years alone, we have worked successfully with regulators and lawmakers around the world and have played a significant role in 48 distinct regulations and policies. Together, these efforts are projected to result in billions of tons of carbon dioxide reductions and prevent thousands of premature deaths over the next decade and beyond.

Now, in little more than a generation, we must radically change a sector that almost exclusively depends on a single energy source—petroleum—operating on infrastructure that represents trillions of dollars of investment over decades.

VISION 2050

We have less than 15 years to cut global CO2 emissions in half, and 30 years to get to net zero if we want any chance of limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius.

AMBITIOUS YET FEASIBLE
The bottom line is that a sector that is almost exclusively dependent on a single energy source, petroleum, operating on infrastructure that represents trillions of dollars of investment over many decades, must change substantially in little more than a generation.

WORKING AT THE ICCT

We are engineers, chemists, biologists, physicists, lawyers, economists, and policymakers working side-by-side to provide relevant, rigorous, unbiased research and technical and scientific analysis to government officials around the world.

The ICCT is proud to be both a leader in technical expertise and in employee satisfaction. We are proud that we were recognized as a “Best Nonprofit to Work For” by The Non-Profit Times in 2019, the result of unsparing investment in employee well-being, benefits, and organization-wide events. We also offer flexible work options and excellent work/life balance.

Staff benefits
ICCT provides a comprehensive and generous benefits package including multiple options for medical coverage, dental and vision insurance, life insurance, and paid time off. We provide excellent benefits differing by region. Some of these include a clean transit subsidy, professional development, office events, and staff retreats, just to name a few. In the United States, we offer an automatic 7% contribution to employees’ 401(k).
