Animal Cage Washer

The Animal Cage Washer is needed to provide the basic husbandry needs of the rodents housed in the vivarium by cleaning and sterilizing caging and other equipment while maintaining supplies and the general appearance and cleanliness of the facility.

Primary duties include:

Operating cage washers and autoclaves to include basic maintenance
• Filter and drain cleaning
• Monitoring equipment sanitation effectiveness by monitoring cage washer temperature
• Processing water samples for pH monitoring and biological indicators for autoclave function
• Dumping dirty bedding
• Following standard operating procedures for dealing with potentially hazardous waste
• Filling water bottles
• Wrapping items to be sterilized
• Maintaining logs
• Cleaning shelves
• Sweeping and mopping floors

Must be able to operate cage cleaning/sterilizing equipment; requires continuous standing, ability to push/pull 100 pounds, and lift/carry 50 pounds. Must have High School diploma or equivalent.

$20.00 to $23.35 per hour
