HX5 is currently seeking a Gateway Spacecraft Network Engineer to join our team in Houston, Texas at NASA Johnson Space Center.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Create and clarify system and requirements and architectural specifications in consideration of specifications for network
  • (IEEE802.3 Ethernet, and TTE (Time-Triggered Ethernet) protocols)
  • Definition of a network architecture in coordination with the development team, product management and the design and software department
  • Creation of network design requirements
  • Coordination and documentation of the concepts phase
  • Ensuring the traceability of requirements
  • Analysis, evaluation, and assessment of the limitations of internal, vendor and module prime contractor requirements
  • Implementation, moderation, and documentation of reviews
  • Requirement management of existing products
  • Perform other duties as required


Education and Experience:

  • BS in engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering school
  • Five(5) years of related experience.
  • Strong background in avionics Command and Data Handling, with emphasis on how spacecraft systems route data
  • Strong background in ethernet protocols
  • Experience in managing requirements and system engineering verification testing in the aerospace sector
  • Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings
  • Able to organize and prioritize tasks in order to meet deadlines and schedules with limited supervision
  • Experience working in a team environment with collaboration tools such as Slack, Webex, Teams


Preferences:



  • Basic knowledge of embedded programming
  • Time Triggered Ethernet (TTE) experience is a plus
  • Experience with spacecraft avionics and circuit design or analysis is a plus
  • Previous experience in the application of computer network technology


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position and offers a 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off).

  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.
  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
