The Environmental and Historic Preservation Specialist will be deployed from home of record to locations mainly on the East Coast, Alabama and Mississippi when needed after natural disasters.

CALLING ALL: Environmental Planners, Biologists, Archaeologists, Architectural Historians, Historical Architects, Certified Floodplain Managers, Wetlands Specialists, Water Quality Specialists, Ecologists, and Horticulturalists, this may be the job for you!

Disaster Recovery is a large priority for ABS Group as well as our communities. As an Environmental and Historic Preservation Specialist, you will conduct site inspections and ensure that any proposed project actions comply with environmental, floodplain, and historic preservation laws, regulations, and executive orders. Additional responsibilities include:

What You Will Do:



  • Conduct environmental assessments and environmental impact statements
  • Identify special considerations that will affect the scope of work and make recommendations based on those conditions
  • Apply knowledge of Federal laws, regulations, and Executive Orders surrounding environmental, floodplain, and historic preservation to sites
  • Implement cost-effective actions to prevent or reduce the threat of future damage to facilities with critical infrastructure systems or components


What You Will Need:

Education and Experience



  • First-level professionals will possess an Undergraduate degree with 2 years of experience in the field of expertise
  • Mid-level professionals will possess an Undergraduate Degree with 5 years in the field of expertise and professional registration; or Undergraduate Degree with 10 years in the field of expertise
  • Senior-level professionals will possess an Undergraduate Degree with 10 years in the field of expertise and professional registration; or Undergraduate Degree with 15 years in the field of expertise


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • Knowledge of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA)
  • Ability to deploy and be on-site within 24-48 hours of notification, fully prepared to perform assigned tasks
  • Ability to work remotely for up to 12 months
  • Ability to obtain FEMA Suitability via detailed FEMA background investigation
  • Active FEMA badge is a plus
  • Knowledge of the FEMA PA Program and policy is a plus
