Competencies Required

Accurately grasping and using HR concepts, practices, procedures, and basic employment laws, showing a high degree of professionalism (e.g., confidentiality) to gain the respect of all employees, strong organizational and communication skills and your ability to work with a diverse group of people are key qualities we look for. Minimum Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Human Resources or Business Management required, or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Bachelor's degree and PHR or SPHR Certification preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience in human resources or payroll required. Experience with multi-state, multi-locations preferred.
  • Proficiency with HRIS, strong analytical skills and the demonstrated ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Good working knowledge and familiarity with Human Resources concepts, practices, procedures and basic employment laws required.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Focused on quality and accuracy and possess a high degree of initiative.
  • High degree of interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all levels within the organization, understand user needs, and offer suggestions to improve their requests.
  • Must be able to handle highly sensitive data with the greatest degree of confidentiality.
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.

Responsibilities

Summary

The Senior Human Resource Specialist provides advanced HR administrative and technical support to BI facilities which includes recruitment, employment activities, personnel records, employee relations, leave management, regulatory reporting requirements and other areas as needed. This confidential position will support the division's operations. In addition, it processes employee information and maintains employee records on HRIS system. Creates unique reports for various human resources compliance requirements and ensures the data integrity within the system by assisting with system maintenance and audits.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • The Senior Human Resource Specialist acts as a senior informational resource to all levels of staff in interpreting and administering HR programs, policies, rules, regulations, procedures, and HRIS systems.

  • Advises and assists in training all HR Specialists on the performance of their HR functions.

  • The Senior Human Resource Specialist serves as the lead HR professional and primary resource to resolve salary, payroll, benefits and HRIS tactical HR problems for BI employees.

  • Processes new hire, re-hire, changes in employee information, leave and any other employment related documentation into the HR Information System. Reports any unusual or unresolved problems to Regional HR Manager for further action within compliance with HR Matrix, SOX and company policies.

  • The Senior Human Resource Specialist ensures recruiting efforts comply with company initial hiring policies and procedures and Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action (EEO/AA) policies and objectives.

  • Assists in ensuring outreach efforts for AA plan requirements are conducted and are documented to include maintaining all required logs and reports.

  • The Senior Human Resource Specialist oversees the maintenance of job posting files and related documents, and applicant files. Ensures interviews are scheduled and resumes are pre-screened prior to sending candidates to hiring managers for consideration.

  • Assists in tracking regulatory reporting requirements, including responses to charges and requests for information from governmental agencies. Maintains all files and records relating to charges and associated correspondence. These documents may be computer-based and/or physical.

  • Using standard or new queries, prepares and disseminates reports relating to, but not limited to, staffing levels, applicant tracking, Affirmative Action/EEO, absenteeism, turnover and compensation. Develops and designs special ad-hoc special reports as requested.
  • Reviews audit reports and corrects identified HRIS data. Works with facilities throughout the division to assist in correcting the HRIS data identified in the audit reports.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
